who me?

Proverbs 19:21
Many plans are in a person’s mind, but the Lord’s purpose will succeed.

Romans 8:28
We know that God works all things together for good for the ones who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.

What is God’s purpose?

How are we living that out?

  1. “The motivating purpose of Christians should be to obey God.”–Joshua Harris in Boy Meets Girl: Say Hello to Courtship (page 32) What should give our lives purpose vs. what actually does? Interestingly, I read once that college students said in a research study that the #1 thing that gave their lives purpose was their friendships. I read another time that relationships with other humans is the #1 thing people truly get out of church (not a relationship with God). As one of my English teachers pointed out when discussing the book My Antonia, we’re all craving a connection with someone.

  2. Considering your previous post, we’re doing a good job of “loving people” in the sense that we find purpose in our human to human relationships. Of course, as is rather obvious, people today have fewer close friends than before.
