Come to me….

Matthew 11:28-30
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Notice the many different ways Jesus says “Hang out with me” which one do you find most inviting? Why?

What would it feel like to walk with Jesus and work with him? It’s okay to be honest; freely and lightly may not describe what you think it would really be like. Instead you might think it would be forced and difficult. If so, what would you desire for it to be like?

Jesus speaks very personally and conversationally in this passage, using phrases like “Come to me.” Consider that Jesus has been talking to you. What is your reply? What do you need to discuss with Jesus today?

Lazy Summertime….

Ever feel like you can’t wait for summer so you can be lazy and do all the things from your list that you wanted to do but never got to?  Then when summer comes, it is so chock full of stuff to do that you never even get to be lazy? AAAGGGHHH!! What are we doing to ourselves? Pushing busyness over relaxation? Pushing must do’s for my future over should do’s for my present?  Stop. Take a deep breath. Do something lazy today.
